Market withdrawal: Cosmetics containing Butylphenyl methylpropional (Lilial) – Chemical risk

The recalled products (including perfumes, cosmetic sets, eau de toilette, body creams, deodorants, aftersun, sunscreens, soaps, hair dyes, hair conditioners, shampoos, shower gels, hair gels, facial toners, tanning sprays, hair lacquers and foams, a hair cream, a depilatory cream, a hand disinfectant gel, an after shave and a massage cream) contain the allergen Butylphenyl methylpropional (Lilial), which has been classified as toxic to reproduction and to the health of the fetus, and may in some cases cause skin sensitization, and all products containing this ingredient in their formulation have been withdrawn from the market.

These products do not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.

Hungary, Italy and Lithuania have notified the withdrawal of this product from the market.

Within these 270 products, some perfumes also contain Hydroxyiohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde (HICC), which is prohibited in cosmetic products as it can cause allergic skin reactions.

This product does not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.

Italy has notified the withdrawal of this product from the market.
