Weeks 40-41/2024 – Recall ordered for 12 cosmetics and body care products

Market Withdrawal: 10 Cosmetics containing Butylphenyl methylpropional (Lilial) – Chemical risk

The recalled products (3 shampoos, 2 eau de toilette, a body oil, depilatory strips, a sunscreen, a set of cosmetics and deodorant) contain the allergen Butylphenyl methylpropional (Lilial), which has been classified as toxic to reproduction and to the health of the fetus, and may in some cases cause skin sensitization, and all products containing this ingredient in their formulation have been withdrawn from the market.

These products do not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.

Hungary has notified the withdrawal of these products from the market.

 

 

 

 

 

Market Withdrawal: Cosmetic with excessive Hydroquinone concentration – Chemical risk

The recalled product (whitening cream) contains Hydroquinone, with a measured value of 1.01% by weight.

Hydroquinone is prohibited in cosmetic products and can cause allergic contact dermatitis and serious eye damage.

This product does not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.

Germany has notified the withdrawal of this product from the market.

 

Market Withdrawal: Cosmetics with excessive P-phenylenediamine (PPD) concentration – Chemical risk

The latest recalled product (hair dye) contains P-phenylenediamine (PPD), with a measured value of up to 10.9% by weight and no coupling substances.

Uncoupled PPD is an extreme skin sensitizer and can cause allergic contact dermatitis.

This product does not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.

Germany has notified the withdrawal of this product from the market.
