Market withdrawal: Cosmetics containing Butylphenyl methylpropional (Lilial) – Chemical risk
The recalled products (39 perfumes, 16 eau de toilette, 5 body creams, 4 deodorants, 3 shower gels, 2 shampoos, a cosmetic set, a facial toner, a primer and an intimate soap) contain the allergen Butylphenyl methylpropional (Lilial), which has been classified as toxic to reproduction and to the health of the fetus, and may in some cases cause skin sensitization, and all products containing this ingredient in their formulation have been withdrawn from the market.
These products do not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.
Hungary, Italy and Lithuania have notified the withdrawal of these products from the market.
Market withdrawal: Cosmetics with Butylphenyl methylpropional (Lilial) and 3-cyclohex-3-ene-1-carbaldehyde (HICC) – Chemical risk
Four of the recalled products (perfumes) contain, in addition to Lilial, 3-cyclohex-3-ene-1-carbaldehyde (HICC), which are banned in cosmetic products.
Another product (eau de toilette) contains only HICC. HICC can cause an allergic skin reaction.
These products do not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.
Italy has notified the withdrawal of this product from the market.
Withdrawal: Cosmetics with dye – Chemical risk
The latest recalled product (children’s cosmetic set) contains the dye CI 45170, which is prohibited in cosmetic products.
This product does not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.
The Netherlands has notified the withdrawal of this product from the market.
