Weeks 46-47/2024 – Recall ordered for 18 cosmetics and body care products

Market withdrawal: Cosmetics containing Butylphenyl methylpropional (Lilial) – Chemical risk

The recalled products (6 perfumes, 2 body milks, 2 deodorants, 2 moisturizing creams, an eau de toilette and an aftershave) contain the allergen Butylphenyl methylpropional (Lilial), which has been classified as toxic to reproduction and to the health of the fetus, and may in some cases cause skin sensitization, and all products containing this ingredient in their formulation have been withdrawn from the market.

These products do not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.

Hungary and Italy have notified the withdrawal of these products from the market.

 

 

 

 

 

Market withdrawal: Cosmetic with Butylphenyl methylpropional (Lilial) and Hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde (HICC) – Chemical risk

The recalled product (face cream) contains in its list of ingredients the allergens Butylphenyl methylpropional (Lilial) and Hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde (HICC), which are prohibited substances in cosmetic products. Lilial can damage the reproductive system, the health of the fetus and cause skin sensitization. HICC can cause allergic skin reactions.

This product does not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.

Italy has notified the withdrawal of this product from the market.

 

 

 

 

 

Market withdrawal: Cosmetic with wrong sun protection factor – Risk of burns

The recalled product (sunscreen) states that it has a sun protection factor of 50+, when in fact the measured value is 27. The product therefore gives an incorrect assumption of protection to the user, who may suffer serious sunburn, long-term skin damage and skin cancer through misuse and reapplication of the product.

This product does not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.

Austria has notified the withdrawal of this product from the market.

The product therefore gives an incorrect assumption of protection to the user, who may suffer serious sunburn, long-term skin damage and skin cancer through misuse and reapplication of the product.

This product does not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.

Market withdrawal: Cosmetic with missing label information – Health risk

The recalled product (tanning spray) does not indicate that the product should be used in combination with a sunscreen. As a result, the user is not protected against UV radiation, increasing the risk of sunburn or skin cancer.

This product does not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.

Spain has notified the withdrawal of this product from the market.

 

 

 

 

 

Market withdrawal: Cosmetic with excessive concentration of salicylic acid – Health risk

The recalled product (peeling) has an excessive concentration of salicylic acid, with a measured value of 27%. Salicylic acid causes serious eye damage and can cause chemical burns when applied to the skin.

This product does not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.

Spain has notified the withdrawal of this product from the market.
