In-Cosmetics Innovation Zone Awards

Induchem, Dow Corning and Laboratoires Expanscience were all recognised for innovative new ingredient launches at last nights in-cosmetics Barcelona award ceremony.

For the first time, the Innovation Zone Best Ingredient award, which recognises those products combining innovative science and features demonstrating substantial benefits to manufacturers and end-users, was split into two categories.

Induchem received gold in the Innovation Zone Best Ingredient (Active) category for Brightenyl®, its first generation of active ingredient designed to be activated, upon application, by the skin microbiote.

Dow Corning picked up gold in the Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Award (Functional) for 3901 Liquis Satin Blend, a thick, stretchy fluid, which creates a long-lasting feel of intense lubricity while delivering a stringy yet novel texture.

Judging the shortlist for both awards was Tomonbu Ezure, PhD, Shiseido Research Center, Amy Fu, Senior R&D Chemist, H2O Plus, Linda Marshall, President, Elysee Scientific Cosmetics, John Jimenez, PhD, Senior Skin Care Scientist, Belcorp, Ruandro Knapik, Senior Skin Care Researcher, Grupo Boticatio and Alain Mavon, PhD, Skin Research Director at Oriflame.

The Green Ingredient Award, in association with Organic Monitor, was awarded to Laboratoires Expansicence for Aqualicia, a natural “3 in 1” active ingredient which entraps, distributes and limits water loss of the skin.

The Green Ingredient Award judging panel included Amarjit Sahota, President, Organic Monitor, Judi Beerling, Technical Director, Organic Monitor and Robin Parker, Technical Director at Acheson & Acheson.

The award is given to the raw material or ingredient that, in the opinion of the judges, makes a significant environmental or social difference in the area of sustainability.

The award ceremony also saw the return of the Beiersdorf Innovation Pitch, following its successful launch at in-cosmetics 2014. The three winners of the award were Silab S.A., Symrise AG and Azelis Deutschland Kosmetik GmbH all of whom will be given the opportunity to market their innovations in association with Beiersdorf.
