Market withdrawal: Cosmetics containing Butylphenyl methylpropional (Lilial) – Chemical risk
The recalled products (14 shower gels, 14 hair dyes, 9 perfumes, 7 eau de toilette, 3 soaps, 3 after-shave, 3 shampoos, 2 deodorants, 2 liquid soaps, a deodorant and shower gel set, a perfume and deodorant set, some skin treatment drops, an ointment, a hand cream, a hairspray, a hair mask, a hair gel, a cleansing milk and a face mask) contain the allergen Butylphenyl methylpropional (Lilial), which has been classified as toxic to reproduction and to the health of the fetus, and may in some cases cause skin sensitization, and all products containing these ingredients in their formulation have been withdrawn from the market.
These products do not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.
Czechia, Hungary, Ireland, Italy and Romania have notified the withdrawal of these products from the market.
Market withdrawal: Cosmetic with Butylphenyl methylpropional (Lilial) and Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI) – Chemical risk
The recalled product (tanning drops), in addition to containing the allergen Lilial, contains the preservative Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI), which is prohibited in no-rinse cosmetic products as it can cause allergic skin reactions, severe skin burns and eye damage.
This product does not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.
Italy has notified the withdrawal of this product from the market.
Market withdrawal: Cosmetics with Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI) and Methylisothiazolinone (MI) – Chemical risk
The products (a face cream and a face serum) contain the preservatives Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI) and Methylisothiazolinone (MI), which are banned in no-rinse cosmetic products as they can cause severe skin burns, allergic reactions and eye damage.
These products do not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.
Norway has notified the withdrawal of this product from the market.
Market withdrawal: Cosmetics with a high concentration of Chromium, Lead and Antimony – Chemical risk
The products (two eyeshadow palettes) contain an excessive concentration of Chromium, with a measured value of 226mg/kg by weight. Chromium is a skin sensitizer and can cause allergic reactions and even cancer. The products also contain Antimony, a skin sensitizer, with a measured value of 120mg/kg, which is a prohibited ingredient in cosmetic products.
These products do not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.
Ireland has notified the withdrawal of this product from the market.
Market withdrawal: Cosmetic with high concentration of Arsenic, Lead and Cadmium – Chemical risk
The product (body powder) contains excessive amounts of Arsenic, Lead and Cadmium, with measured values of up to 25.5mg/kg, 105.7mg/kg and 1.22mg/kg respectively. These compounds are harmful to human health and can cause cancer, organ damage with prolonged and repeated exposure, affect fertility and the bones and development of breastfed or unborn children. In addition, the product contains allergens such as “Linalool” and “Benzyl Salicylate”, which are not indicated on the packaging. These allergens can cause allergic reactions and eye irritation, as well as being harmful to aquatic organisms.
This product does not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.
Germany has notified the withdrawal of this product from the market.
Market withdrawal: Cosmetics with Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4) – Chemical risk
The products (eye-lift gel and a herbal cream) contain Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4), which is a prohibited compound in cosmetic products, as well as being very persistent and bioaccumulative, i.e. it poses a risk to aquatic organisms and the environment. It can also affect human fertility if ingested or inhaled.
These products do not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.
Lithuania has notified the withdrawal of this product from the market.
Withdrawal: Cosmetic with Geraniol and Linalool fragrances in high concentration – Chemical risk
The product (soap) contains the fragrances “Geraniol” and “Linalool” in concentrations of over 100mg/kg. As these substances are not indicated in the list of ingredients, consumers will not be aware of their presence and they may cause allergic reactions or skin sensitization.
This product does not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation.
Germany has notified the withdrawal of this product from the market.
