Are cosmetic products and ingredients tested on animals? Cosmetek explains! 🤓

In 2004, the European Union banned the testing of cosmetic products on animals and, in 2009, the regulation was amended again and extended the ban to cosmetic ingredients and products tested on animals, given the growing concern and demand for ethical products that respect animal welfare. 🧑‍🔬

Over the years, the European Commission has taken steps to gradually abolish animal testing in the cosmetics industry, including funding research into alternative methods. 🧑‍💻

The ban on such tests in the European Union, in force since 2013, has inspired several other countries to follow suit and adopt similar measures. 🚫

That said, at times in the past cosmetic products and ingredients were tested on animals, but since 2013 there has been a ban, so this idea is a myth! ❌
